  • As is our custom in the fall, we went to the Austin Powwow this weekend.  Many of the outfits worn by dancers and performers included red/white/blue and some form of the American flag.  Something Tim Tallchief, Emcee, said really stuck with me:

"We love America.  We loved it first.  We believe in America... and we say to you:  Defend America.  Defend it, or give it back."

  • Yay!! Austinites! why aren't we all sitting around some local coffeehouse (Little City - woohoo! ) arguing politics, poetry, prose, etc. in a caffeine-induced frenzy?

  • Austin Powwow: International Indian Gathering of Mystery!

  • Wow.  That's an awesome quote...

  • Concise, but well said. . . and well worth us listenting to.

  • (LOL Homer! )

That's an excellent quote. It gave me chills.

  • You do know, he has a point. Nuff said.

  • Very true saying....

  • That's a great quote....

  • Props for sharing such a well stated quote. =)

  • well spoken, tim tallchief. although certainly 'defend' can be taken multiple ways.

  • Ohhhhh....I am so jealous.:) I would have loved to have been there.

I love America in a strictly Canadian way.  I love America with a maternal indulgence.  It is a wonderful place, but Canadians tend to look at it like a wayward child.  You do stuff and we are torn between hugging you and spanking you for almost getting yourself killed.

    *lol*

Hey Sadzi!  Nice to see you.:)

  • I wanted to stop by and invite you to join in the March...

  • What an incredible quote.  Certainly made me pause and think.  Thanks for sharing.

  • Those are powerful words. My religion believes that the original inhabitants of this continent came from Jerusalem, originally. We believe that Christ came and visited the people in the Americas after his resurrection. Anyway... not to go psycho-religious on you... I think it's awesome, the "We loved it first" part. It's a promised land, for a chosen people.
